The other day I finished this book, it’s ambiented in a world where there’s people that are born different, like with certain abilities or characteristics, and these special children are taken to special orphanages.
The protagonist, Linus Baker, is a social worker who has to go to different orphanages and check if the children are well treated and the orphanages are in good condition. One day, he is sent to check a specially particular orphanage, in which there’s a special (and probably very dangerous) child and a particular director. This orphanage is on an island, and Linus has to stay there a whole month and write a report about the place, the children and everything that he sees there.
Linus is transformed by that place and that people and experience a journey of self realisation that leads him to make some decisions and do some things that he wouldn’t even dare to think about before.
The book was ok, interesting, but not memorable, it’s a nice story but that’s all, it left me a bit ‘meh’, but is a quick read.
