I finally finished ‘Dawn’ by Octavia E. Butler, I thought it was a short story but it was longer than I expected, it was nearly 300 pages.
In this book, Earth was destroyed in a war, and the few humans that were left were ‘rescued’ by some aliens. These aliens stuied them and had them slept for centuries. The protagonist is Lilith, the chosen one to guide a group of humans back to Earth, she and her group of humans, with the help of the aliens, have to learn to survive in the tropical forest, which is where they’ll live when they’re back to Earth. But the help of these aliens comes at a price.
I really enjoyed this book, it was hooking and interesting and kind of traumatizing, there was an ‘intimate’ way in which the humans and the aliens interact that made me feel so uncomfortable. I thought this was a standalone but apparently there are two more parts to this story, so I hope I can read the next soon.
