I’ve been wanting to make onion soup for…years? But I never made it! Why? Don’t even ask me why because I don’t even know…it’s so easy to make I don’t even understand why I didn’t try it before.

This soup is soo good and simple, and it tastes even better the next day! So if you haven’t already, I suggest you tu try it!

Onion soup

Total Time1 hour 15 minutes
Course: Soup
Cuisine: French
Author: Lua

Ingredients

  • 2 Big onions
  • 25 gr Butter or Vegan butter
  • 10 ml Olive oil
  • 125 ml Dry white wine
  • 1 tsp Cornflour
  • 1/2 litre Water
  • Shredded cheese
  • Baguette bread
  • Salt
  • Black pepper
  • Dry parsley

Instructions

  • Cut the onions into Julienne, then heat the olive oil and the butter in a pot over medium heat, add the cut onions, add salt an pepper and cook for about 20 minutes. Stir from time to time.
  • When the onions are cooked, add the cornflour and stir vigorously, then add the dry white wine and the water, add more salt and pepper and a teaspoon of dry parsley, stir, and then let it cook over low-medium heat for 30 more minutes.
  • Once the soup is ready, we prepare the toasts: cut the baguette bread into thick slices and toast them in the oven, then add shredded cheese on top of the toasts and let them in the oven a bit longer so the cheese melts.
  • Finally, pour the soup into a bowl an serve it with the cheesy toasts on top!
