I’ve been wanting to make onion soup for…years? But I never made it! Why? Don’t even ask me why because I don’t even know…it’s so easy to make I don’t even understand why I didn’t try it before.
This soup is soo good and simple, and it tastes even better the next day! So if you haven’t already, I suggest you tu try it!
Onion soup
Ingredients
- 2 Big onions
- 25 gr Butter or Vegan butter
- 10 ml Olive oil
- 125 ml Dry white wine
- 1 tsp Cornflour
- 1/2 litre Water
- Shredded cheese
- Baguette bread
- Salt
- Black pepper
- Dry parsley
Instructions
- Cut the onions into Julienne, then heat the olive oil and the butter in a pot over medium heat, add the cut onions, add salt an pepper and cook for about 20 minutes. Stir from time to time.
- When the onions are cooked, add the cornflour and stir vigorously, then add the dry white wine and the water, add more salt and pepper and a teaspoon of dry parsley, stir, and then let it cook over low-medium heat for 30 more minutes.
- Once the soup is ready, we prepare the toasts: cut the baguette bread into thick slices and toast them in the oven, then add shredded cheese on top of the toasts and let them in the oven a bit longer so the cheese melts.
- Finally, pour the soup into a bowl an serve it with the cheesy toasts on top!
Thank you so much for reading me! See you soon! ♥

January 12, 2023 at 6:58 pmI always thought you’d have to chop 100s of onions for onion soup but this looks delicious. I’ll have to give it a go <3

January 18, 2023 at 3:38 pmYeah I thought that too! But since I live alone I had to use only two, if you have a family of four maybe you should double the quantities but yeah for a couple of people these amounts are fine, thanks for your comment!
