I finally finished a book! And what a book…I knew I probably was going to like it because I really liked the Mistborn trilogy but since this new series is his first sci-fi series I didn’t know exactly what to expect but this book is great!
The remnants of the human race are trapped on a planet that is constantly attacked by mysterious alien starfighters. Spensa, a teenage girl living among them, longs to be a pilot, but she and her family are living under the shadow of her father, who was a pilot and was branded a coward for running away from an important battle.
Spensa is determined, stubborn and hard-working, she’s sure her father wasn’t a coward and she wants to prove it, but she ends up discovering something more disturbing…The character of Spensa grows a lot during this book, she starts doubting and questioning things she was so sure to know in the beginning. I also liked the character of Jorgen, he is presented as something at the beginning of the book but there’s more to him that I thought would be, I found him interesting. And of course, my favourite character is M-bot, I know that when you meet him you’ll love him too.
The story is also quite interesting, at the end you discover why are they trapped on that planet and I’m honestly looking forward to read the next book on this series, I really enjoyed it!
